What to Expect

At White Memorial Medical Center, we’re not only committed to helping you build a strong career but a lasting relationship with us as well. We desire to maintain ongoing communication throughout your time with us. The following is what you can expect.

Your pay

At White Memorial Medical Center, we want to make sure that you are paid competitively and accurately for what you do. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Pay Status – Depending on your position, you will be classified as either an exempt or non-exempt employee. This just means that if you are an exempt employee, you will be paid on a salaried basis and if you are non-exempt, you will be paid on an hourly basis and eligible for overtime as well as a potential shift differential for working the second and/or third shift. Your supervisor will give you more details, including how and when to clock in and out.
  • Pay Period – You will be paid every other Thursday.
  • Direct Deposit – We offer you the ability to have your paycheck deposited electronically into your checking account. You can also receive information on your paycheck online, via email or through your mobile device.

Your first 30 days

On your first day, you’ll meet your supervisor and co-workers. Please make sure that you also connect with your Buddy.

The most important thing to remember at this time is to make your benefits elections before the end of your first 30 days. Our Benefits Specialist will be available to review your employee benefits. Contact extension 1685.

We would also love to hear how you are doing during your first 30 days. Any time you’d like, just pop into Human Resources, give us a call or drop us a note or an email. We’re here for you.

30–60 days

As your journey with us continues, you’ll be living out our mission more and more in your day-to-day work. And as you settle in to your role, we want to make sure that you remain satisfied with your decision to join us. We encourage you to continue telling us about your experience here, to suggest improvements, and to offer new ideas that may strengthen our work environment.

During this time, you can explore how you might take advantage of our Education Assistance Reimbursement Program. The program provides educational assistance for job related education. To learn more about this important benefit, contact Human Resource at extension 1555.

60–90 days

Throughout your first few months with us, you’ll experience a working environment that fosters compassionate, safe, patient-focused care. You’ll also better understand our focus on your satisfaction, as well as our desire for you to reach your potential in service to patients and the community.

We hope you’ll be so happy in your role with us that you’ll want to bring other great people to our family through our Employee Referral Program. Just refer a friend for an open position and if your referral is hired, you’ll receive a cash bonus. For a list of qualifying positions, please contact the Recruitment Department at extension 1922.

Performance management & compensation

Every year, we’ll provide you with feedback regarding your performance and career objectives. You’ll work with your supervisor to set and contribute to individual, departmental and hospital-wide goals. We’ve fully automated this process with the use of a computerized system called SuccessFactors. This system supports and tracks your accomplishments throughout the year and provides validation for your performance.
